(Photo screengrab … Susan Lim, the prominent Singaporean doctor facing an inquiry on alleged overcharging of a patient related to the Brunei royal family, has broken her silence on the scandal to give her side of the story. Earlier this year, the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) alleged in court that Dr Lim had grossly marked up her bills to her wealthy Bruneian patient, the sister to the Brunei Queen. In a ruling late last month, the High Court dismissed Dr Lim's applications to block the SMC from forming a second disciplinary committee to look into the complaint of overcharging, as the court found no indication of alleged impropriety, illegality or bias on the part of the SMC. Her practice, which was once deemed the most successful private surgical practices in Singapore, is now technically bankrupt, she told The Business Timesin her first ever media interview since news broke out on her story. Don't black wash all the doctors in Singapore! Dr Lim has the right to charge her fees - audited and justified by a professional and independent team. The patient was willing to pay for her services night and day and anytime of the day! Don't blame her for the charges. She was a medical prisoner for so many years while attending to her patient and the patient's care-givers. I believe she is an excellent doctor who gave excellent medical care to her patient.And she has the right to charge her professional fees.      Options  Reply

Full of craps. My Dad use to warn me that there are 2 professional that you can't trust at all. 1. A lawyer - Argue and giving support that you should fight on a case at your own expenses.  2. A Doctor. - Not revealing the truth about the health condition and persistently ask you to go for unnecssary examination where they gain kickback from referral. I personally had encounter Dr Lim style of working while I was working as an interpreter. She had told my client (Japanese) that she need to have a surgery immediately as it will endanger her life (Showing alot of passion and care) at the inital stage, saying that she is willing to scarifice her time at night and take the operation as time does not permit. Wanted this patient to have the surgery the next day.  The patient was shock to learn about her condition and decided to discuss this matter with the children when she's back in Japan before having the operation. Upon hearing this, Dr lim change her attitude and reverted that she is very busy, will not take any resposiblity since she could not decide, ask us to leave and think about it the surgery. From a passionate and caring doctor changes her look and chase us out of the clinic saying she is very very busy. Not enthical at all.....sad to have such doctor in SIngapore. The medical council should look thru every record. Why was the charges 30 over million initially and she could provide a discount of 24 Million when she faces a suit case from Brunei. Her time is over, get rid of this doctor, it is a shame that a doctor behave unethically. The goverment plan of having SIngapore as Medical HUB has rose questioned to all foreign countries and patient about the charges,      Options  Reply
